Transfer window-decision time

The transfer window has now opened and it is now time for the Doncaster Rovers hierarchy to make some tough decisions concerning how and if to spend money on players, as whatever happens in the market this January could have a potentially decisive bearing on which league Rovers compete in next season. The defence is of a decent standard and the midfield is excellent, goals are what is needed and it is widely thought that at least one striker will be added to the squad, with two men standing out as po sible targets. One is the controversial Lee Hughes who is currently scoring goals aplenty at Oldham Athletic, the other is Bristol Citys Steve Brooker who played and scored in one game for Rovers in November. Brandon Jones Jersey Hughes, who the Rovers have openly admitted to having an interest in signing, would almost certainly be a guaranteed source of goals at second-tier level, po se sing as he does an admirable scoring record for West Brom and Coventry in the same league. Hughes may prove to be a controversial addition though, having been jailed for causing death by dangerous driving in 2004. Shunned by much of the football community Oldham were the only club to offer him a deal upon his release. Hughes price tag also seems to be a stumbling block for Sean ODriscoll, who is unhappy about the asking price of 400 000 that would free Hughes from his contract. Brooker Preston Williams Jersey is the more probable of the two signings, as he is reportedly training with Rovers at present and has played one game already, heroically scoring with his first touch in the game at Watford in November, I have personally seen Brooker cause the Rovers defence problems on Adam Butler Jersey more than one occasion whilst playing for Bristol City at League One level and do not doubt his ability as forward, but his parent club though does appear to want rid of him, and Brooker has had a run-in with the law himself after brawling in a nightclub. Brookers goal scoring record pales in comparison to that of Hughes but he does contribute much with his general play.Rovers best bet would be to acquire Hughes, a cla sy performer and genuine threat to defences, Brooker has played fewer games in the second-tier but would probably succeed if given a chance and a run in a decent team. My plea to the Rovers board is make an effort to get both, as combined with the rejuvenated Paul Heffernan, who is now surging with confidence; they would give the Rovers an excellent chance of survival.
